Hilton Agreement Announced for Anitta Hotel: The Brand and Timeline of the Transformation in Çorum Are Not Yet Clear
An important step has been announced for the inclusion of Çorum in Hilton's growth map in Turkey.
According to a news report by Turizm Güncel dated August 18, 2026, businessman Savaş Balçık, who is said to be the new owner of the five-star facility operating under the name Anitta Hotel in Çorum, stated that the necessary agreements have been signed for the hotel to operate under the Hilton brand.
Balçık is also a businessman connected to Başkar A.Ş. and Arca Çorum FK. Local media reported that he was in talks to purchase Anitta Hotel in June, after which the facility reportedly changed hands for approximately 65 million euros. While some initial reports indicated that the process had not yet become official, later sources stated that the transaction was completed.
The new Hilton agreement is still at the level of the investor's announcement.
Which Hilton brand has not been disclosed
The most important point to note in the news is here.
Although Balçık stated that the necessary signatures for "Hilton" have been signed, it has not been disclosed whether the hotel will:
become Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tapestry Collection, or another Hilton brand.
The opening date is also not known.
Similarly, it is not publicly available whether Hilton will directly manage the facility, operate it under a franchise model, or if a third-party management company will be involved.
These details are not minor technicalities in hotel investment.
The choice of brand can change the economic model of the project from room standards to F&B concepts; from loyalty systems to staff training, and from renovation budgets to management fee structures.
No separate announcement from Hilton for Çorum yet
This is why Hilton's current official statements need to be checked separately.
The company announced that it reached 100 active hotels in Turkey with the opening of Hilton Istanbul Airport on August 12, 2026. The same announcement stated that a total of 14 openings are planned in Turkey throughout 2026, indicating that Hilton is continuing its growth in the country at a record pace.
In Hilton's growth announcement in February 2026, there were also five new agreements in Antalya, Istanbul, and different cities.
However, as of August 20, there is no separate signing announcement for Çorum or Anitta Hotel in Hilton's accessible official news flow.
This does not mean that there is no agreement.
In brand agreements, the investor's announcement and the global chain's public announcement can be made on different dates. However, from StaffMag's perspective, it is necessary to keep the source of the development open in the current situation:
The agreement was announced to the public by the investor, not Hilton.
Anitta Hotel is still operating under its own name
The current website of Anitta Hotel also shows that the transformation has not yet been completed.
The facility is still accepting reservations under the Anitta Hotel name and is operating from its current address on İnönü Street in Çorum city center. The hotel's own page lists amenities such as a spa, indoor pool, à la carte restaurant, seven meeting rooms, and a 750-person ballroom.
The Hilton brand does not appear on the current version of the site.
Therefore, it is too early to say "Anitta Hotel has become Hilton."
A more accurate description is that the Hilton transformation agreement has been announced for the current facility.
The transformation may require renovation of the existing hotel
Transitioning to an international brand does not merely mean changing the sign.
Depending on the brand the hotel will enter and its current physical condition:
room standards,
bathrooms,
fire safety,
IT and PMS systems,
front office infrastructure,
F&B areas,
brand signage,
accessibility,
housekeeping standards,
staff training
may need to be re-evaluated.
Some verified guest reviews published about Anitta Hotel in 2026 indicate that renovation works are ongoing at the facility. These reviews do not prove that the project is related to the Hilton transformation; they only provide user observation that the facility has undergone physical renewal in the near term.
Therefore, it would not be accurate to directly associate the current renovations with the Hilton project.
The purchase figure of 65 million euros should also be used cautiously
In June, various local and sectoral publications reported that Anitta Hotel was purchased for approximately 65 million euros.
However, the initial Çorum Haber source referred to the same figure as an "allegation" and stated that the purchase process had not been formalized at that time.
Therefore, it is safer not to present 65 million euros as a confirmed transaction amount verified by a deed or company announcement.
A suitable expression for StaffMag would be:
"The purchase reported in local and sectoral sources as approximately 65 million euros."
Hilton's strategy is not limited to big cities
If the Çorum move becomes official, it will align with Hilton's geographical expansion strategy in Turkey in recent years.
The company had previously announced new agreements in markets outside of major metropolises such as Düzce, Tarsus, Adıyaman, Torbalı, and Sarıkamış. In the growth plan dated November 2024, more than 1,000 rooms were added to the Turkey pipeline with just ten new agreements.
This model shows that global chains are not only focused on classic international destinations like Istanbul, Antalya, and Bodrum in Turkey.
Industrial, public, sports, health, meeting, and regional business travel-producing Anatolian cities are also becoming target markets for branded hotel development.
The demand mix in Çorum will be different
Çorum is not a high-volume international leisure destination like Antalya or Bodrum.
Therefore, the demand balance for a hotel entering under the Hilton roof may operate differently.
Potential segments may include:
corporate travel,
accommodation related to industry and commerce,
meetings and organizations,
sports teams and events,
cultural tourism,
local wedding and banquet demand
may stand out.
The existing 750-person ballroom and seven meeting areas of Anitta Hotel also indicate that the facility has a business structure not solely dependent on room revenue.
Therefore, after the conversion, the brand's F&B and MICE strategy may be as important as the room side.
What does the transformation mean for employees?
One of the unseen aspects of transitioning to an international brand is human resources.
The current team can be retrained on the new brand's:
SOPs,
loyalty program,
reservation system,
guest complaint procedures,
housekeeping standards,
F&B service model
.
If the management model changes, some departmental structures may also be redesigned.
The correct approach here is not the assumption that "Hilton has come, staff will change."
No changes regarding the staff have been announced in public sources.
However, it is foreseeable from an operational perspective that the conversion process will create a significant training need.
Stafflink's opinion
In our view, the main importance of the development in Çorum is not just that the Hilton sign is coming to another city, but rather that an existing independent hotel will join the global system through conversion.
The entire growth of branded hotels in Turkey does not have to involve building new buildings from scratch.
Existing facilities with the right physical product;
renovation,
technology,
training
and brand standardization can be included in the international distribution system.
This can shorten the construction time for investors; it can also enable global chains to enter new markets more quickly.
However, there are still fundamental questions that need to be answered in the Çorum file:
Which Hilton brand? When is the opening? How much renovation will be done? Will Hilton manage it? How many rooms will enter the system?
It is premature to definitively assess the investment value or operational model of the project without this information being disclosed.
