THY Launches Daily Flights on Kuwait Route: Why Is It Important for the Gulf Market?
Turkish Airlines has increased its flights between Istanbul and Kuwait to seven weekly frequencies as of September 1, 2026.
In the new schedule, flight TK770 departs Istanbul Airport at 02:00 and arrives in Kuwait at 05:40. On the return, TK771 departs from Kuwait International Airport Terminal 4 at 06:35 and arrives in Istanbul at 10:25. Thus, THY offers reciprocal flights every day of the week on this route.
Times Kuwait, reporting on the published airport schedule from Kuwait, confirms that the daily operation is planned for the period of September 1–October 24, 2026, and verifies the TK770/TK771 timings. THY's own reservation system shows regular sales in the Kuwait–Istanbul direction during September and October.
The significance of this change for the tourism sector is not just the increase in the number of weekly frequencies. The 06:35 departure from Kuwait and 10:25 arrival in Istanbul create a more convenient connection window for accessing domestic flights within Turkey and THY's international network via Istanbul Airport.
Kuwait is not just about Istanbul traffic
THY's current Kuwait sales page shows that it offers connecting options to Turkish destinations such as Izmir, Hatay, Trabzon, and Dalaman, in addition to Istanbul. A significant portion of these flights occurs via Istanbul.
This situation broadens the impact of the daily Kuwait–Istanbul route on Turkish tourism.
Istanbul may be the final destination.
However, the same passenger;
can continue to the Black Sea,
Aegean,
Mediterranean,
or another city in Turkey.
Therefore, the increase in frequencies in Istanbul may not only affect the accessibility of Istanbul hotels but also the access of connected domestic destinations to the Gulf market.
Why is the daily frequency important for hotels?
There is a significant difference for hotel sales teams between having a few flights per week from a source market and having flights every day.
A daily flight;
makes the accommodation start date more flexible,
can facilitate short vacations,
can increase options for business travel days,
can help tour operators create more flexible packages
and can make it easier to meet last-minute demand.
Especially for city hotels, resorts, and long-stay products operating in the Gulf market, flight accessibility is a direct part of the sales strategy.
However, it cannot be concluded that "the number of Kuwaiti tourists will definitely increase" solely from an increase in frequency.
In addition to flight capacity, ticket prices, season, currency, perception of safety, competing destinations, and consumer demand also determine the actual number of passengers.
Time change is as important as frequency
In a statement from THY Sales Manager İsmail Sungur, it is noted that the departure time from Kuwait has been moved back to 06:35, particularly to accommodate onward connections via Istanbul.
This detail is important for understanding the hub airline model.
The success of a single route for an airline cannot only be measured by how many passengers it carries between Istanbul and Kuwait.
If a passenger coming from Kuwait can continue to;
Europe,
North America,
the Balkans
or different cities in Turkey through Istanbul,
then the same flight becomes a feeder for a much larger network.
Therefore, the alignment of the flight time with connection banks at Istanbul Airport can create commercial value as much as frequency.
Terminal 4 detail should be monitored for travel operations
The new program also confirms that operations to Kuwait will be carried out through Terminal 4. The September 1 TK771 flight record shows a departure from Terminal 4 at 06:35.
This information is particularly important for;
tour operators,
DMCs,
airport transfer companies,
VIP meet and greet services
and corporate travel organizers.
Using incorrect terminal information on transfer documents can cause operational disruptions. It would be beneficial to update transfer and meet-and-greet information sent to guests during the initial period of the new schedule.
How can hotels turn frequency increases into sales opportunities?
Having daily flights does not automatically bring reservations to the hotel.
Facilities actively working in the Gulf market need to evaluate the flight changes in terms of distribution and product.
The first step is to check availability and prices in the sales channels used in the Kuwait market.
Then;
Arabic reservation communication,
family room and connecting room options,
airport transfer,
early check-in or late check-out options,
proper management of halal products and F&B expectations,
services suitable for long stays
can be evaluated according to the real customer profile of the market.
However, it is not correct to categorize all Gulf visitors into the same behavior pattern. Treating guests from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, or the UAE as a single segment can lead to excessive generalization in sales and service design.
The 10:25 arrival may also affect operational planning
The planned arrival time of TK771 from Kuwait to Istanbul is 10:25.
Since standard hotel check-in times are mostly in the afternoon, there may be requests for luggage drop-off and early check-in from passengers arriving directly at the hotel.
Hotels with high sales in the Kuwait market can evaluate flight times with their revenue and front office teams.
If early check-in cannot be guaranteed;
luggage acceptance,
lobby usage area,
breakfast or brunch sales,
spa access
can better manage the waiting process for the guest.
Thus, the airline schedule becomes an input not only for the sales department but also for reception and housekeeping planning.
Stafflink's view
In our opinion, the value of THY launching daily frequencies on the Kuwait route for HORECA goes beyond the news of "one more flight added."
Air accessibility is one of the unseen parts of the hotel product.
If a guest cannot come on the desired day, cannot find a suitable connection, or if the arrival time does not align with the accommodation experience, even a very good hotel product can face disadvantages.
Especially for Turkish destinations operating in the Gulf market, hotels need to monitor not only monthly tourist statistics but also flight frequencies and times in source markets.
THY's daily Kuwait connection does not guarantee demand on its own.
However, it provides more flexible access.
The next task is for hotels and destinations to convert this access into reservations with the right product, right price, and right service.
